Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)
is a screening test that detects chromosomal abnormalities in a fetus using a sample of the mother’s blood after 10 weeks of pregnancy.
It identifies abnormalities in chromosomes 13, 18, and 21, assessing the risk of conditions like Down syndrome and determining the baby’s gender. This test uses advanced genetic analysis technology from the United States, ensuring high accuracy and reliability, helping you plan for a healthy and well-managed pregnancy.
Indications for Testing
NIPT can be performed for all types of pregnancies, including natural pregnancies, twin pregnancies, pregnancies through IVF, and surrogate pregnancies. It also recommended for individuals with the following indications:
- Pregnant women aged 35 years or older.
- Pregnant women with a family history of chromosomal abnormalities in chromosomes 21, 18, and 13.
- Pregnant women with a history of giving birth to a child with chromosomal abnormalities.
- Pregnant women whose ultrasound results indicate a potential risk of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus.
- Cases where either parent carries a Robertsonian translocation, which increases the risk of trisomy 13 or trisomy 21 in the fetus.List Item
